Omniscope Model Manager

In 2008, having delivered a range of departmental analysis solutions, and with larger clients looking to deliver Visokio Omniscope insight to audiences of hundreds or thousands of users, we embarked upon the development of an environment to manage large-scale Omniscope deployments. The result is the Omniscope Model Manager ("OMM") - a powerful Enterprise Content Management ("ECM") solution to manage the production and dissemination of Omniscope IOK files across entire enterprises.

OMM alongside the Omniscope Enterprise edition, controlling the creation and delivery of Omniscope content. It allows OMM administrators to upload Omniscope models (IOK files), control access to those files and link groups of users with different versions of the same basic model - with each group seeing only data to which they are authorised.

OMM provides a powerful groups/roles/users authentication model which allows individual Omniscope audience members (employees, authorised third parties e.g. suppliers, customers etc.) to be linked with different Omniscope models and underlying data sets. This approach means that a single Omniscope model - accessing data from a central data store (e.g. SQL database such as Oracle, SQL Server etc.) - can be generated and delivered in many different versions to suit many different audiences.

For example:

  • A single standardised weekly sales analysis model (just one IOK file) can be run against hundreds of different 'data slices' from a sales database, resulting in personalised sales analysis models for hundreds or thousands of salespeople, delivered to them automatically by email or RSS
  • A single customer self-service model - spanning all purchases made in the past 3 years - can be delivered in customised form to every one of your clients, enabling them to review their purchasing history and link through to your current online sales catalogue to place repeat orders
  • A single helpdesk analysis model can be deployed in each IT service centre globally, each collecting data pertinent to support calls, tasks and projects in each centre, providing standardised real-time analysis of support trends and performance across an entire global enterprise

OMM provides an Active Directory connector to import users from a central directory service, enabling rapid set-up and easy management of large Omniscope deployments.

OMM connects users - via the groups they belong to, and the roles they perform - with Omniscope models and data sources, scheduling every touchpoint as a model build. OMM then dispatches XML control commands to Omniscope Enterprise, according to a pre-defined schedule or on-demand, and stores the resultant IOK files. These output report models (IOK files) are linked to the groups and roles which can access them, and through to their respective users.

Users can elect to be notified by email whenever new models are built, and can then download the results from a personalised web site, or even launch Omniscope Viewer in-browser for truly unlimited zero-footprint deployment to thousands of users within hours.

The administration tools provided with OMM include complete logging of every system event, and every user access, enabling tight control of the OMM environment as well as visibility of report usage - essential for managing compliance and ensuring best-practice information delivery.

OMM is built on the Microsoft platform, utilising Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008, and can be deployed on single servers or multi-server web farms.

ASP also provides a fully-managed OMM deployment option, in the form of its CompleteInsightTM service, enabling rapid deployment with no capital outlay. For more information on CompleteInsight, or any aspect of the Omniscope Model Manager, please contact us with your questions.
